Security & Privacy

Is SafeReport really 100% anonymous? +

Yes, SafeReport is designed to be completely anonymous. We employ multiple layers of protection:

  • No personal information required - We don't ask for your name, email, phone number, or any identifying details
  • No IP logging - We don't record IP addresses or device information
  • End-to-end encryption - All data is encrypted before it leaves your device
  • Zero-knowledge architecture - Even our administrators cannot access unencrypted report data
  • Anonymous credentials - You receive a randomly generated Report ID and passphrase
What encryption does SafeReport use? +

SafeReport uses military-grade AES-256 encryption for all data at rest and in transit. This is the same encryption standard used by governments and financial institutions worldwide.

Additionally, we implement:

  • Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.3) for all connections
  • Perfect Forward Secrecy (PFS) for key exchange
  • Client-side encryption before data leaves your device
  • Regular security audits and penetration testing
Can my employer track that I used SafeReport? +

SafeReport is designed to prevent tracking from employers or anyone else:

  1. No network logging - We don't store information about how you accessed our service
  2. Tor network compatible - You can access SafeReport via Tor for additional anonymity
  3. Public Wi-Fi safe - All data is encrypted end-to-end, so even if monitored, it appears as random data
  4. No cookies or tracking - We don't use tracking cookies or analytics that could identify you

Important: For maximum security, avoid using company devices or networks. Use a personal device on a private network when possible.

Account & Access

What if I lose my Report ID or passphrase? +

Due to our strict anonymity policy, we cannot recover lost credentials. This is a security feature, not a limitation. Here's what to do:

  • Prevention is key: Save your Report ID and passphrase in a secure location immediately after creating your report

  • Write it down: Keep a physical copy in a safe, private location

If already lost:

  1. You can submit a new report with a new anonymous identity
  2. Reference your previous report if possible (without identifying yourself)
  3. Our investigators may connect related reports during their investigation

Important: We cannot verify your identity to recover credentials, as we don't store any identifying information.

Can I access SafeReport from multiple devices? +

Yes, you can access your report from any device with internet access. However, consider these security guidelines:

  • Use personal devices only: Avoid company-owned computers or phones

  • Avoid public computers: Internet cafes, library computers, or shared devices
  • Secure your devices: Ensure your personal devices have passwords and updated security software

Best practice: Use one primary device for accessing SafeReport to minimize digital footprint. If you must use multiple devices, ensure they're all personally owned and secured.
